The monument to the Twentieth Maine at Gettysburg. The Twentieth Maine were Col.Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain’s regiment who were defending the extreme left of the Union line at Little Round Top on the second day at Gettysburg. When they were attacked by the 15th Alabama the Twentieth Maine held the line and probably saved the battle and the Union army from destruction.
