The Red Sox had not won a World Series since 1918. They had come very close a few times. Finally on this day in 2004 the impossible happened. The Boston Red Sox beat the Curse of the Bambino and the St.Louis Cardinals in 4 straight games to win the World Series. They almost didn’t make it to the World Series. They were down in the ALCS 3 games to 0 and nearly illiminated by the Yankees but they rallied to win 4 games in a row. Amazing. The Red Sox would come back and win again in 2007.

The Curse of the Billygoat is still alive though, the Chicago Cubs haven’t won the World Series since 1908. Ronaldus Magnus wasn’t even born then.
