The George Washington Bridge a suspension bridge which goes over the Hudson River connecting  Fort Lee, New Jersey to Manhattan in NYC opened on this day in 1931.  Its total length is 4760 feet, its with is 119 feet and its height is 604 feet. The bridge was made of steel. The bridge designers were Cass Gilbert and Othmar Ommann.  Over 280,000 vehicles cross the George Washington Bridge on a daily basis.
