The Solomon Guggenheim Museum Opens- This Day 1959

On this day in 1959 The Solomon Guggenheim Museum opened in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The Guggenheim was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It took Wright 15 years to create this art museum.  Solomon Guggenheim was an American businessman, art collector and philanthropist. He died in 1949.
