Actor Wood Harris who played the role of Avon Barksdale in the greatest television show of all times “The Wire” turns 43 today. Avon Barksdale in the main drug dealer in the West Side of Baltimore. He is assisted by his friend Stringer Bell.
Wood Harris is in “The Wire” every season except for season 4. He was also in the movie “Remember The Titans”
Avon was one of the great characters of the show but the greatest character in the show and my favourite character in television history- the one and only Omar Little.

The Wire was really good, no argument from me. The best for me still goes to Deadwood. Just out of curiosity – what’s your favourite book?
Love Deadwood too..and The Sopranos… my favourite book- non-fiction The Civil War trilogy by Shelby Foote.. fiction.. “The Lord of The Rings” books… how about yours?
A Winters Tale by Mark Halpren, The Kiteflyer, most anything by Tom Robbins especially Jitterbug Perfume and Another Roadside Attraction, and yes – Lord of the Rings.
Non Fiction – Shake Hands with the Devil by Romeo Delaire. Tough going but an important read.
What is that about? Haven’ heard of it..
Romeo Delaire is the Canadian who lead the UN mission in Rwanda.
I can’t remember the name of the movie but they made one loosely based on the attrocities in Rwanda. I think Don Cheadle was in it and may have even been nominated for an oscar (for what that’s worth) Much like the UN mission in Bosnia, Rwanda broke my heart.
