On this day in 1923 the Walt Disney Company is founded by Walt Disney and his brother Roy. The Disney Company is still going strong 89 years later. Walt Disney died in 1966 at the age of 65. He still holds the record for most Academy Award nominations with 59 and the number awarded, 22. Contrary to urban myth Walt Disney wasn’t frozen upon death and hanging next to Ted Williams waiting for a cure to his cancer so he can come back. A great myth though.
