
Jim Palmer one of the best pitchers in baseball from the mid-1960’s into the early 1980’s turns 67 today. Jim Palmer played his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles had some great pitchers from the mid-60’s until the mid-1980’s and the best of the bunch without question was Jim Palmer.
During his career he won 268-152. He won 116 more games than he lost. His career ERA was 2.86. Palmer won 3 Cy Young Awards, was a 6 time All-Star, 3 time World Champion, and won 4 Gold Glove Awards. He also pitched a no-hitter in 1969. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990. In the baseball live ball era from 1920 on only 2 other pitchers have a lower career ERA than Palmer, Whitey Ford and Sandy Koufax are the only pitchers ahead of him on that list.
