Former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Arlen Specter has died at age 82. Specter was a centralist. He went from being a Democrat early in life to a Republican and at the end of his career a Democrat again. He represented Pennsylvania in the United States Senate for 30 years from 1981-2011. He was defeated in the 2010 Democratic primary. He had been battling cancer for a number of years.
Specter first gained notice when he served as an assistant counsel on the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President John Kennedy. He was one of the ones who came up with the ‘single bullet theory” I believe that they got that one right.
