Washington has a great young team. I would have been rooting for them in the playoffs if not for the bungling of the Stephen Strasburg situation. After they decided to ‘shut down’ Strasburg at 160 innings I said the hell with them. Nothing against the players or the fans but the management of this team. What a joke. You have a chance to go to and win a World Series. You shut down one of the best pitchers in baseball before the season ends. They got what they deserved. If I were a Nationals fan I would be plenty upset. The fans and the players deserved better.

The article that I have linked below talks of the future. How the Nationals are a young and upcoming team and the prediction that Strasburg will win the Cy Young Award next season and the Nationals will win the World Series. That may be very true but after close to 50 years as a baseball/sports fan I do know one thing, take nothing for granted. There have been a number of teams that were ‘sure things’  that missed. Injuries happen. Players have bad seasons. Strange things happen. You strike when the iron is hot. I cannot imagine the New York Yankees shutting down a Stephen Strasburg as the Nationals did. Shutting Strasburg down was a losers move. You play for today. And I am also tired of this babying of pitchers. 160 innings and you shut him down? Bob Gibson used to pitch that many innings before breakfast.
