On this day in 1870 Confederate General and Icon- Robert E. Lee died at the age of 63. Lee the commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia died at his home in Lexington, Virginia. Lee is buried at Lee Chapel, Washington and Lee University in Lexington. Robert E. Lee’s last words were “Tell Hill he must come up. Strike the tent” Both Lee and Stonewall Jackson’s last words were calling for General A.P. Hill.
He was and remains one of the greatest men this country has ever produced.
I agree, most people are not aware of everything he had done.
He was not only an outstanding general but a gentleman.
