2- Game 6- 1975 World Series. Reds vs Red Sox. The Carlton Fisk walk off home run game. The Sox were down to the Reds 3 games to 2. This was an exciting game with a number of turning points and twists in the plot. Bernie Carbo’s pinch hit 3 run home run, Dewey Evans robbing Joe Morgan of a home run. What an exciting game, topped off by the Fisk game winning home run off of Pat Darcy. Fisk’s reaction, willing the ball fair as he ran down to first base, you couldn’t plan it better. Greatest game and greatest World Series I’ve ever seen. Reds won it in 7 games.
for my number 2 on mt rushmore is joe montana to dwight clark or the catch. the moment was unreal pressure closing in on montana, and he floats the pass to clark who makes the grab in traffic.
you could win lots of little bar bets with this fact as well. the game was on televised on CBS, and the announcing team was Vin Scully and Hank Stram.
That was a ending.. the end of the Landry Cowboys and the rising of a new dynasty in the west.. I would have thought Pat Summermall and Tom Brookshire would have been doing that game.. never would have thought Vinny and Hank.
