On this day in 2001, less than a month after the 9-11 attacks, the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan began with an air assault and covert operations on the ground. The action was called “Operation Enduring Freedom” After 9-11 this action had to be taken, the objective- Al Queda.  We should have just stuck with this war and fought it right. Going into Iraq is a different matter. Biggest mistake in American history.
