Brooklyn Dodgers Finally Win A World Series- This Day 1955

On this day in 1955 the Brooklyn Dodgers finally win a World Series. In Game 7 Johnny Podres was the hero with a 2-0 shutout of the New York Yankees. The key play in the game was in the 6th inning. Sandy Amoros came in to play left field that inning as a defensive replacement. The first two runners got on. Yogi Berra his a ball down the line near the left field wall. Amoros made a remarkable catch and was able to get the ball to the relay man who doubled up Gil MacDougal at first base. The Dodgers would finally win their World Series and it had to be sweet beating the New York Yankees to win it all.
