Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew turns 67 today. Rod Carew played for the Minnesota Twins and California Angels. He played second base and first base during his career. Never an outstanding defensive player he was one of the great contact/average hitters of the past 40 years.  Rod Carew made 18 All-Star teams and won 7 American League batting titles. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1967 and the MVP in 1977. He made a run at hitting .400 in 1977, finishing with an average of .388. He had a career batting average of .328 and had over 300o hits in his career. Carew was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
