On this day in 1590 Pope Urban VI dies only 13 days after becoming Pope making it the shortest reign in history. He died at the age of 69 of malaria.
In more recent history in 1978 Pope John Paul I died only 33 days into his reign. He was only 65. He was the first Pope born in the 20th century and the last to die in the 20th century.

Pope John Paul 1 was pushing for reform in the Vatican. He wasn’t happy with the Vatican Bank, and was launching an investigation. Just saying…….
Some believe that JPI was murdered.. I don’t know enough about it to really have an opinion…it was curious..
i would have thought that they would have wanted to avoid JP2 more than JP1. for as long as JP2 was there he made a lot of changes.
