In the final game played at Tiger Stadium, Detroit catcher Robert Fick hits the last round tripper, a grand slam, in the home team’s 8-2 victory over the Royals. It is the 6,873rd major league contest played at the historic 87-year old park located on the corner of Trumbull and Michigan.
Tiger Stadium is my all time favourite ballpark that I have been to. I was lucky enough to see a dozen games there, including the next to last game there. What a great place to see a baseball game. I’ve been meaning to make my way back to Detroit to see a ballgame at the new ball field. Next year!
