The 2012 NFL season with these replacement Zebra’s has become a travesty of a mockery of a sham to use an old Woody Allen quote. Last nights game in which the Green Bay Packers were cheated out of a victory was the tipping point for me. If Roger Goodell doesn’t come to his senses this week I plan on watching no NFL football this Sunday. If I want to watch the WWE I will watch the WWE.  What the regular officials are asking for is chump change to the NFL. Goodell is just being stubborn, and a fool. He needs to lose his job. He is about to slip below the honorable Allan “Bud” Selig Jr on the worst commissioner list. {Of course Gary Bettman has the Worst Commissioner in the history of the universe title locked up} Seriously, I think Goodell has let power to go his head. Here is a suggestion maybe they can just take all the fine money they are collecting, put it in a pot and fund the referee’s pensions that way. The NFL is a joke. Goodell and the league have enough problems. Now the credibility of the league is on the line. If Pete Rozelle were alive today he would be rolling over in his grave.

  1. i think its amazing how the nfl (goodell) thinks that this is not harming the product. there is absolutely no reason that something that is popular now will remain popular tomorrow or next month, year, etc. This was not even close – I like how they are not addressing the aspect of simultaneous possession – sure they admit that Tate committed OPI by shoving down the defender, but his right hand is CLEARLY off the ball multiple times.
    This outcome seems to have cost a lot of people a substantial amount of coin on wagering. That will not sit well.

  2. Hans – you and I have joshed one another for years on the Mike Renfro catch (and yes i did say catch). While we are on opposite sides of that coin (even thought it was CLEARLY a catch) you and i will both agree it was that game that brought replay to the table. what matters most is getting the call correct. Now i dont want every single play reviewed, but this call has to be made or correctly overturned. But usually with the NFL what one sees – Tom Brady’s fumble (oh wait no that was the tuck rule that no one had ever heard of) or the Calvin Johnson TD (nope he did not possess the ball) is not what is ruled. how much longer will the average fan take being lied to. i agree completely at least the WWE lets someone come in with a chair or a table and wreak some havoc.

    and i am going to go further here. i understand the aspect of LONG marathon games, but why isn’t everything about this play reviewable? we have the technology to get the call right especially when it costs people money and i am not talking specifically about bettors. this game has hampered the packers playoff chances.
    granted you could say they should not have put themselves in this position in the first place. agreed – but the call was reviewed and it is plain to everyone that Tate never possessed the ball until after the scrum.
    i dont care that the OPI was not called – OPI is NEVER called on a hail mary. NEVER.
    The rules allow for every score and every turnover to get reviewed. If they have the technology like this – get the call correct. that is what matters.

    • I agree Renfro did catch the ball….but out of bounds…. another thing aboutthese replacement refs..they have no idea what is or isnt pass interference..they just throw a flag and hope they got it right..
