Otis Sistrunk a defensive end for the Oakland Raiders for 7 seasons including 1 in which he made the Pro Bowl-turns 66 today.
When I think of Otis Sistrunk I think of a Monday Night Football game. Otis Sistrunk went from high school to the US Marines. He was one of the few to make the NFL without going to play college ball. One Monday Night Football game- Alex Karras made on of those ‘great MNF moments’ when the camera zoomed in on Otis Sistrunk sitting on the bench with his helmet off. Otis had his head shaved and steam was rising from his head. Karras suggested that the out of this world looking Sistrunk was from “The University of Mars”

i always thought some of these guys just played to the stereotype of the outlaws. some were but most i think were decent fellows.
The Raiders of the 70’s had that outlaw reputation- i think most were just oddballs and rebels.. i do not remember those guys getting in trouble with the law.. just a bunch of free spirits..who didn’t fit in on most teams..
