On this day in 1926 Hollywood’s movie studios shut down for a day to honor Italian-born American actor Rudolph Valentino’s funeral. Valentino had died on August 23rd, 1926  at the age of 31 after ulcer surgery. His death caused mass hysteria among his female fans.
