Singer-songwriter Joe South has died of heart failure at age 72. In the late 1960s -early 1970’s Joe South wrote some great songs. A lot of his songs were covered and were hits by other artists. His biggest solo hit was “Games People Play” He wrote “Rose Garden” which was a huge country hit for Lynn Anderson. His brother committed suicide in 1971 and Joe South went into a deep depression. He really didn’t do much after the mid-70’s as far as music goes. He wrote some great songs. I own -Joe South- Retrospect-The Best of Joe South” which is excellent.
