First Place- New England Patriots- 12-4. As long as Tom Brady is the quarterback and Bill Belichick are together the Patriots will continue to rule the AFC East and be a leading contender for the Super Bowl. Having the best head coach and the best quarterback is a formula for success. Additions of Brandon Lloyd at wide receiver and spending all but one of their draft picks on much needed defensive help should make this a better football team. I would expect rookie linebacker Dont’a Hightower to have an immediate impact.

Second Place-Buffalo Bills 8-8. There seems to be a buzz about the Buffalo Bills this year. The experts are predicting playoffs. I think they should improve on their 6-10 record but I wouldn’t be making plans to head down to New Orleans in February just yet. I am not sold on Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. They will need Fred Jackson to play a full season and have a big year to contend. Mario Williams is a big addition on the defense. The Bills overleap the Jets for 2nd place but I don’t see them being much of a threat for the Patriots in this division.

Third Place- New York Jets. 7-9 Never had a team talked so much and accomplished so little. Rex Ryan and company need to get down to the business of playing football and not running their mouths. Ryan said last week that this is the best Jets team he’s had. We shall see. Sanchez has been a huge disappointment. I don’t see him turning things around. Tebow is a great story but he’s not the answer. Too many characters on this team not enough character. I think the Rex Ryan experiment is nearing its end in the Gotham City.
Fourth Place- Miami Dolphins 3-13. Miami has a new head coach again, Joe Philbin. They have a rookie Ryan Tannehill at quarterback who they took in round 1. A lot of pressure on a rookie who has few toys to play with. Davone Bess and Brian Hartline at wide receiver? If Tannehill is going to succeed in the NFL they are going to have to improve on that. Reggie Bush is coming off the best year in his career. I don’t know if I expect a repeat. Tannehill is either going to be a very successful quarterback or a Tim Couch/Akili Smith bust is my guess. His wife is worthy of a number 1 draft choice though. The Dolphins seem to always be in rebuilding mode. Their drafts have been awful. They seem to have little direction. They will be one of the worst teams in the league. Maybe with a high draft pick next year they can get Tannehill some offensive weapons.
Slicethelife, you are so on the point, my favorite team is the Dolphins and they are killing me, we have been rebuilding for over 10yrs, I pray Tannehill is the answer so all the organization would have to do would be get some wide receivers and rebuild that o-line. Slicethelife this was a wonderful post.
Thank you. Good luck to your Dolphins. At least you will get countless shots of Mrs. Tannehill this season… I think the key to stopping the constant rebuilding is hoping you got the right coach and qb.. and make some good draft picks. It will be an interesting season.
Hans – i do not fault any of your logic with the predictions. that said i am going to disagree with the finish here, because i do not see brady staying healthy all season. i think that the bills win the division (because someone has to) i think the bills win it at 9-7. I do not think brady gets injured for the season, just something that maybe causes him to miss 4-8 games. pats finish 8-8, i think that miami catches a few breaks and finishes 3rd. i think the jets have tebow as qb by mid october and the team just implodes.
Remember the Patriots went 11-5 without Brady a few years ago, with a quarterback that hadn’t started a game since high school in Matt Cassel. Unless Brady would get hurt and they sign Tim Couch or Cade McClown to replace him..they will win the division..the Bills? Is Marv Levy still the coach up there? lol
One thing on the Dolphins. I like Tannehill, and I like OC Mike Sherman, I think those two coming in together from TX A&M could be a very good thing – however the Dolphins have no receivers. Looking at their current roster only Davone Bess has more than 200 catches. i think it will be hard for Tannehill to not be labeled a bust with this team, but lets me fair, its not like he has a lot of toys to play with.
I wonder what Clayton and Duper are up to? They have to get this guy some help this off-season in the wide out department.
