On this day in 1941  Soviet leader Josef Stalin ordered the destruction of the Lenin-Dueproges Dam to hamper the invading Nazi forces. The dam which was completed in 1932 supplied power for industies in the Ukraine. The dam would eventually be rebuilt and power was once again generated by it in 1950.
