On this day in 1935 jazz claranet player Benny Goodman played at the Palomar Theater in Los Angeles. This performance was broadcast nationionally on the radio and drew a huge audience. This concert is frequently credited with kicking off the Swing Era. Benny Goodman would be known as “The King of Swing” Goodman died in 1986 at the age of 77.
