The great trumpeter , bandleader and composer Miles Davis released his classic “Kind Of Blue” on this day in 1959. “Kind Of Blue” is the biggest selling Jazz album of all times, it has sold over 4 million copies in the United States alone. It is also considered by many music critics as being his finest work. Miles Davis one of the greatest and most influential musicians of the 20th century.

Saw [and listened with joy to] Miles with essentially this group at Birdland in 1957. That night is solidly in my memory.
