The Ramones played their first concert on this day in 1974 at NYC’s now famous CBGB’s. The Ramones were a band before their time. Trailblazers. It is a shame they didn’t sell as many albums and hit it as big as they deserved. Their first 4 albums are a blueprint for punk rock. They may have not made it big in sales but their influence on other bands have been huge. Sadly, Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone have all died way before their time.

I saw the Ramones twice and on their farewell tour I met a girl there who was to become the future Mrs. Postcard. So I can say that the Ramones changed my life.
