One this day in 1914 Carl Wickham of Hibbing, Minnesota created the first bus line in the United States,  Greyhound.

For a town over around 20,000 people Hibbing, Minnesota has had a number of famous people,  Vincent Bugliosi the Los Angeles prosecuter who put Charlie Manson in prison for life, Kevin McHale the great former Boston Celtic, Gus Hall a communist politician who ran for president 4 times, Gary Puckett who had a handful of hits in the late 1960’s,  Roger Maris who is the all time single season home run champion-he hit 61 home runs for the Yankees in 1961 and last but certainly not least the great Robert Allen Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan.

    • I knew Dylan and Maris were but the others…pretty impressive for a place where the peak population was 21,000.
