On this day in 1929 the great Babe Ruth became the first player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 500 home run mark with a home run at League Park in Cleveland. The Babe would end up with a career total of 714, a record that would stand until Henry Aaron broke it in 1974. Aaron would end up with 755 a record that still stands. {I do not recognize the chemically inhanced Barry Bonds home run totals as being legit}
