The Great American Ballpark- Cincinnati Ohio

Over the weekend we went to the Saturday night and Sunday Pirates-Reds games at  Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. I had not been to any games there before {I had been to Riverfront which was just like being at a game at Three Rivers Stadium in Cincinnati or The Vet in Philadelphia,  a terrible place for baseball} I really liked the Great American Ballpark.

I hate the Reds. I have a long time grudge from the 1970, 1972, 1975 and 1990 playoffs. Those 1970’s teams the Reds had were great though with Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Tony Perez and company. I admired them but hated them.

I found Reds fans over this weekend to be very friendly, loyal to their team, and enthusiastic. A great atmosphere to watch a game. This was the biggest series my Pirates have had in 20 years. They lost Friday and Saturday nights but won Sunday.  More pictures on Great American Ballpark in later posts but the picture above is from the outside of the ballpark.  A fun weekend. I plan on going back next season when the Pirates head down to the Natti for a weekend series.

I wore my Pirates t-shirt and ballcap both days. I probably talked to 20 Red fans here and there at the ballpark and outside the ballpark. They were all very friendly, a number of comments on how well the Pirates were doing this season etc. I do not think I would go to Filthydelphia and wear my Pirate gear. Unless I was didn’t plan on coming back home.  The stands were a sea of red. Everyone had on a Reds jersey. I almost forgot how much I hate the Reds. The fans are there are great.
