They still love Pete Rose in Cincinnati. He was a hometown boy. The Reds have had it seems to me more hometown Natti Boys play for them then any team. Rose. Barry Larkin, Dave Parker, Buddy Bell, Junior Griffey come to mind.
I can say a lot about Pete Rose as a ballplayer that is positive. He played hard, he never seemed to get hurt, he was a player who played regularly at second base, right field, left field, third base and first base. He would volunteer to move to a new position for the good of the team {example they had George Foster a promising outfielder who had no place to play. No problem Pete Rose says he’ll play third base} He made himself a great player. He didn’t have great natural talent. As a person I have heard so many stories about Rose. Not a good person off the field, not a good family man. Pete off the field isn’t Charlie Hustle but Charlie Hustler. I do not think he is the brightest human being. He’s been disgraced. He was caught betting on ballgames and lied about it for nearly 20 years. When he finally admitted to it, he did it in a book {lets make money off this}
I have an idea for Pete Rose. He is usually in Cooperstown on Hall of Fame induction day, on the sidewalk charging for autographs. Here is my idea Pete. Next year every weekend of the season go to a different ballpark. Set up your little stand on the sidewalk somewhere near the ballpark and sell your autograph. A Pete Rose autograph can’t be worth that much, he’s signed millions of things.
They seem to have forgiven Pete in Cincinnati. Pete Rose Way leads right to the Great American Ballpark. I saw dozens of Pete Rose jersey’s worn by fans last weekend in the Natti. [below is the first one of many that I saw}
