American Composer Marvin Hamlisch Dead At 68

American composer Marvin Hamlisch dead at 68 following a brief illness. Hamlisch is one of only eleven people to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony Award. He also won a Pulitzer Prize and two Golden Globe. His most famous works was the soundtrack to “The Way We Were” and “The Sting” The song to “The Sting” called “The Entertainer” hit #3 on the Billboard charts. His was a name you heard often back in the 1970’s. When I hear the name the first thing I think of is the Steve/Cindy Garvey thing where Steve told Marvin he could have Cindy if he wanted her. Steve Garvey is not my Padre. Steve didn’t win an Oscar/Grammy/Emmy or a Tony but he did win an National League MVP Award.
