The IOC got this one right. You can’t throw games and not be punished for it. I think a 5 year ban would also be a good idea, that way they won’t be throwing games in the next Olympics too. Send a message. And of course bar them from the Badminton Hall of Fame!! There is a Badminton Hall of Fame…

this story confuses me. hard to get caught tanking games.
did you see the highlights? they were just serving the ball into the net on purpose.. they weren’t even TRYING ..stood a few feet from the net and intentionally hit it over and over into the net…they have no case on the appeal..amazing..
no i did not see the highlights – that would explain it. yeah i would have been not happy with that either. thats lame. i know this is not a big spectator sport but had i paid for tickets to this event and had that happen i would be wanting my cash back.
how about it you had money on it? i am sure somewhere in the world people people care about this sport..people bet on two ants crossing the floor.. there was money bet on those matches no doubt…
i know the numbers were out there before hand. any futures bets on the gold here definitely lost. i am sure that in other parts of the world this was probably a huge monetary loss.
there was a quote in one of the fbi profiler books – i think the agents name was john douglas. he was talking about a bust of a gambling ring at the time of the super bowl. he asked one of the guys why they bet. guy said we do not need a game or anything. it was raining and he says to the fbi guy i bet you the raindrop over there gets to the bottom of the window before the one over there. – then he gave the most insightful thought to the fbi guy – it’s what we are.
good story.. i know pete rose bets on everything! i remember back in the 70’s they talked about rose- having some special radio in his garage.he’d come home from games and listen to the west coast games on the radio…they talked about how much he loved baseball….my guess is…he was betting on ballgames even then…lol
