Babe Didrikson won two gold medals in the 1932 Los Angeles Games. She won in the javelin and in the hurdles. She also won a silver medal in the high jump. She was well on her way to becoming the greatest female athlete in American history.

Babe Didrikson was the female Jim Thorpe or Bo Jackson. She excelled in the track, golf and basketball. She was born in 1911 in Port Arthur, Texas {That is also the hometown of rock singer Janis Joplin}  In the early days of women’s golf she would win 48 golf tournaments. She was 5′ 7 115.  Her life sadly was cut short at the age of 45 by cancer. She died in 1956 in  Galveston, Texas. Babe Didrikson was a sports pioneer, born way before her time.
