Yankee third-baseman Alex “The Cooler” Rodriguez turns 37 today. At one point A-Rod looked like he was well on the way to not only topping Barry Bonds questionable home run record but destroying it. His career the past few seasons has taken a free fall and now he is injured and will be out for a good portion of the rest of the season. He is 121 home runs short of breaking the record. He’s 37 and not hitting 40 plus home runs anymore. I don’t see him breaking the record. His home run totals are questionable anyhow. I think most people now look at his career and have serious questions about the steroid use issues. Is it just a coincidence that the power outage comes when they got serious about cracking down on steroid use? I think his election eventually into the Hall of Fame is in doubt. The way most fans look at his career has also changed. I think this latest injury may end any hopes he had at the Bonds record.
