Sunday June 24th. We started the day outside of Little Rock, Arkansas heading east. We stopped in my favorite city- Memphis for a few hours on the ride towards home.
Our first stop was Sun Studio, the Birthplace of Rock and Roll Music. We had been here before ten years ago but had to take another tour of the legendary place where Sam Phillips discovered and recorded the likes of Elvis, Howlin’ Wolf, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Charlie Rich..etc..
They have added more to the tour since we were last on it. Last time you went into the room where all those great records were recorded and the guide told us stories of what happened in that room back in the 1950’s. This time they have added on a trip upstairs to a room filled with memorabilia before taking us downstairs to the studio. The tour lasted 50 minutes. It was well worth taking, and this was the third time I’d been on the tour.
Afterwards had to visit the souvenir store and then take some pictures outside. I love this place. All the history that took place here, all the great music that was made in that little building.
