Ron Turcotte was born 71 years ago today in New Brunswick, Canada. He won 3032 races in his career but will always be known best for being the jockey who rode the greatest horse of all-Secretariat to the racing Triple Crown in 1973. Turcotte’s career was tragically cut short in 1977 when he took a tumble off his horse Flag of Leyte Gulf which left him a paraplegic. Ron Turcotte won a long list of big races in his career as a jockey and has won a number of awards but it will always be Ron Turcotte-Secretariat he will best be remembered for. There are certainly worse ways to be remembered.

good jockey in the right place with the right horse.
