Baseball Hall of Fame Pyramid- Centerfielders

Some of the greatest players in baseball history played centerfield. When I started working on the list I noticed one thing that I hadn’t noticed at other positions. There were more Level 5 players than at any other postion and after that there was a huge drop off at the other top levels.

Centerfielders

Level 1-Wally Berger/Earl Averill/Edd Roush/Richie Ashburn/Freddie Lynn/Vada Pinon/Hack Wilson/Hugh Duffy/Max Carey/Al Oliver/Lloyd Waner/Kenny Lofton/Bernie Williams/Earle Combs/Curt Flood/ Jim Edmonds/Steve Finley/ET Willie Mcgee/Cesar Cedeno

Level 2-Andre Dawson/Jimmy Wynn/Dale Murphy

Level 3-Larry Doby/Billy Hamilton

Level 4-Kirby Puckett/ Cool Papa Bell/ Christobel Torriente/Duke Snider

Level 5- Willie Mays/Ty Cobb/Mickey Mantle/Oscar Charleston/Tris Speaker/Joe Dimaggio/ Junior Griffey

Oscar Charleston pictured below. Buck O’Neill said that Willie Mays was the best major league player he ever saw. He said Oscar Charleston was the best baseball player he ever saw.
