Today we break down the second basemen for the Hall of Fame Pyramid. { I did make one change to first base- Jimmie Foxx moved up to Level 5. Johnny Mize to Level 4}
Second Basemen
Level 1-Johnny Evers/Red Schoendenst/Bill Mazeroski/ Bid McPhee/Frank White/Nellie Fox/Joe Gordon/Tony Lazzeri/Larry Doyle
Level 2-Frankie Frisch/Lou Whitaker/Billy Herman/Willie Randolph/ Bobby Doerr
Level 3-Ryne Sandberg/Rod Carew/Roberto Alomar/Bobby Grich/Jeff Kent
Level 4-Jackie Robinson/Craig Biggio/Nap Lajoie/Charlie Gehringer
Level 5-Joe Morgan/Rogers Hornsby/Eddie Collins

i thought we would be in big disagreements on this. i have a slight issue with morgan at level 5, but i can see it – i did not see morgan when he first came up so i have no frame of reference.
i think biggio gets a little shafted here, most people are not going to remember that he came up as a catcher, and after the astros acquired jeff kent he moved to the outfield. truly one of the most unselfish players.
glad to see whitaker where he is. wish we had votes.
i think if i were going to start a team-using only players ive seen in their prime [this would illiminate mays , aaron etc] i might have to go with Joe Morgan. He did everything, He was the smartest player I’ve ever seen.. he is the man who made the big red machine go…walked a lot..stole bases but only when it mattered unlike rickey who stole bases to steal bases…plus morgan was a gold glover at 2nd… in saying that remember i hated the reds then. they beat my pirates like a gong during those years in the playoffs….do you think Kent is right at level 3? i had a fit thinking about where to put him and ryno..
kent i think is correct – most homeruns by 2B. i have to recuse myself from any discussion on sandberg. i think sandberg was overrated.
Do you think Biggio is a 5?..
