Battle of Gettysburg Day 3- On this day in 1863

The third and final day of the Battle of Gettysburg-on this  day 149 years ago. The battle would culminate in the ill-fated Pickett’s Charge-the so called “high water mark for the Confederacy .”

There would be over 23,000 casualties on both sides in this 3 day battle. The south would never again invade the north. Things would start to roll downhill after the losses at Gettysburg on July 3rd-1863 and the surrender at Vicksburg the next day.

If you ever get the chance to go to Gettysburg- one thing you have to do is walk Pickett’s Charge. In the summer they give battlewalks of Pickett’s Charge-that is the best way to do it-listening to the experts talk about it as you make the walk.
