The First ALL-Sports Radio Station- 25 years ago

The first All-Sports Radio Station came on the air in 1987- WFAN in New York. I remember when it came on – I couldn’t believe they had a station where they talked about sports. Will that work? Now there are hundreds of stations.

A couple months into operations W-FAN brought in Pete Franklin. I grew up listening to Pete on the radio on WWWE in Cleveland. To this day he is by far my favorite sports talk show host. His style worked well in Cleveland- it didn’t go over so well in New York where he was let go after 2 years.
