The great Paul McCartney -of The Beatles turns 70 years old today. He will always be Beatle Paul. His writing partnership with John Lennon-made the Beatles. A lot of songs bring back memories. I always loved “Band On The Run” and one of the reasons is a memory [although I think it is his best post-beatles song} When I was 12 my grandfather[who I always called Whitey} took my cousins and myself on a vacation down south. It was the spring of 1973. The radio was always on and it seemed like every half hour they would play “Band On The Run’ at first I thought it was two different songs. It sounds like two different songs. I thought it odd that they would always play these two songs back to back like that. Then I finally caught on-it was one song. Whenever I hear “Band On The Run’ I always think of Whitey-who I was very close to and that trip.
