On this date in 1950 Ben Hogan did something no one thought possible He won the U.S. Open. He had been seriously injured the year before in a car accident. Doctors thought Hogan would never walk again let alone play golf but he proved them wrong and battled back to continue his great career. Ben Hogan died in 1997 at the age of 84-his 100th birthday is coming up in August.

Glad you posted this, been needing a book to read. the Hogan biography should be a good one. i read somewhere that Hogan believed that you should have every shot for every club. the way that i have typically played golf is akin to mark twain’s ‘a good walk spoiled’
this i think is one of the most underrated feats in sports. as you stated the fact that Hogan could barely walk this. insane.
