interesting thoughts – you will not sell any tickets for the all texas conference and there is no way that any of them would agree to that conference.
a&m in their arrogance will not play rice/houston/tcu. they do not want those schools to use that game as a recruiting tool.
not sure that a&m ever plays texas again with the animosity of the last 2 years of defections from the big 12.
and no way does a&m play baylor in anything after baylor was prepared to sue a&m to make it stay in the big 12.
i think that you will find your most resistance in the fact that a lot of traditional rivalries will be pushed to the side.
do not get me wrong – college football needs to be blown completely apart and start over from the beginning. if you were someone from another planet and i had to explain how the college football champion was determined, you would probably get back on your spaceship and determine there was no intelligent life on this planet. this lately has been simple… pick the two best teams from the SEC and say there is your title game.
i will say this – your plan would be a great help to non-revenue sports that would not have as much of a travel burden placed on them.
what traditional rivalies are being pushed aside? there will be 9 conference games- if someone isn’t in a conference with a rival- say florida with fsu and miami- well they aren’t now either- they can stlll play each other- remember i make up the schedule in this world…and if texas a@m doesn’t want to play rice etc.. they can play bowling green in my division 2. remember i am Roger God-dell- what i say is the law–in the hanspostcard ncaa.
