The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Rain.” “Rain” is the b-side to “Paperback Writer.” Today you can find “Rain” on The Beatles “Past Masters Vol. 2.” “Rain” was written by John Lennon. It was inspired by The Beatles arrival in Melbourne, Australia. It was raining so hard that John said “I’ve never seen it rain as hard as that except in Tahiti. Also it was inspired by people complaining about the weather all time time.No doubt also a song influenced by John’s use of LSD during this period of time. This has to be the greatest Beatles b-side. One of the things that really stands out on this in addition to Paul’s bass playing is Ringo’s drums. This is in my opinion Ringo’s finest performance. Ringo would comment that it was his best recorded performance too. Excellent. John Lennon: vocal and rhythm guitar/ Paul McCartney: backing vocal and bass guitar/ George Harrison: backing vocal and lead guitar/ Ringo Starr: drums and tambourine. The song was recorded on April 14 and 16,1966 at Abbey Road. Producer: George Martin.
