Paul originally saw the song as ‘a joke french tune” The Beatles were short on tunes for “Rubber Soul” and Paul played it for John, who stole the “I love you, I love you, I love you” from a Nina Simone song “I  Put A Spell On You.” John Lennon: backing vocal/ Paul McCartney: vocal, acoustic guitars, lead guitar, bass guitar and drums/ George Harrison: backing vocals/ Ringo Starr: drums.
