On this day in 1793 George Washington laid the first cornerstone of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The Capitol is located at the eastern end of the National Mall in D.C.
When I am in D.C. I always have to do the walk from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial on the other end and back.
