Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Burleigh Grimes was born on this day 1893. Burleigh Grimes would win 270 games in a major league career that went from 1916 until 1934. He died at the age of 92 in 1985.

The most interesting thing about Burleigh Grimes is he was the last legal spitball pitcher. When they outlawed the spitball after the 1920 season, 17 pitchers who threw the spitball were legally allowed to still throw it.
