Whitney Houston came out of the gate flying- she had a #3 hit followed by 3 #1’s on her debut album and then on her second album Whitney- her first four singles from that album went to #1- this was the second album. To me at least- I liked the first album- and that is where it ended for me. The singles from the second album didn’t grab me and nothing she did afterwards did either. I mentioned this before with her- she had a great voice no denying that but the songs seemed to become just vehicles to show off the voice- where as with Madonna you didn’t have that- because her voice was ordinary. I would rather listen to Madonna any day- at least the Madonna of the 80’s and 90’s.
