Great Baseball Moments- Joe Carter’s World Series Winning Walk-Off Home Run- 1993 World Series- Game 6. The World Series has had only two walk-off home runs- that finished the World Series. The most famous was in the 1960 World Series when the Pirates Bill Mazeroski’s bottom of the 9th inning home run beat the Yankees. The other series ending walk-off home run came in 1993- Game 6. The Toronto Blue Jays led the series 3 games to 2 going into game 6-but trailed going into the bottom of the 9th inning 6-5. Phillies manager Jim Fregosi brought in his closer- Mitch ‘Wild Thing’ Williams to pitch. Rickey Henderson walked, then with one out Paul Molitor singled which brought Joe Carter to the plate. With the count 2 balls and 2 strikes- Carter homered over the left field fence ending the game and the series.

Joe Carter like so many of these who began with the Cleveland Indians, showed legendary status later with other teams- Greg Nettles, Chris Chambliss, Roger Maris…
The Indians were like a farm club for the Yankees in the early to mid 70’s… sad.
