1985 was the year for Tears For Fears- ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’- #1 in June and “Shout’ #1 in August. Those two songs- and the rest of the album sound as good or even better today than they did back then. The song was a last minute addition to the album- originally it was called ‘Everybody Wants To Go To War.’

  1. As time went by I liked this song more and more and now I love it. It had to grow on me. Start Me Up was the same thing….but then radio made me hate that one.

  2. ‘Everybody wants to go to war’ is an interesting thought. Coincidentally I just picked up Plato, Laws, Jowett trans., and right near the beginning of Book I, Cleinias the Cretan says that ‘all men are always going to war with one another’… so I wonder is that synchronicity or what!

  3. I admit I don’t clearly hear all the lyrics on this, but I decided I don’t care to know, I just like the feel of the record, kind of dreamy and ethereal.. it’s one I don’t tire of.
