The first #1 in the new decade- 1980’s– 1980 is a strange chart year as far as #1’s go- there would only be 16 #1 hits- and 13 of the 16 would be at #1 for more than a single week.In fact 12 of the 16 would be #1 from 3 weeks to 6 weeks.

For all these years I have thought this KC And The Sunshine Band- was a cover of another song- it’s not a disco song for one thing. It has lyrics- no one has ever compared it to a Bob Dylan lyrically but it has more than one line repeated over and over to death like previous KC and The Sunshine Band songs. They must have felt the trends shifting and were making at attempt at survival in the post- Disco era. It is hard to believe that this group had 5 #1 hits in their career. This would be the final one. They would have two more Top 40 hits before the plug was pulled.
